How do I know if tennis coaching is cancelled?

Parents will receive a text message if a lesson is cancelled due to rain or extreme heat.

How many lessons do my children receive each term?

Students enrolled in The Boys & Girls Junior Coaching Program receive 8 lessons per tennis term.

Do I need to notify the coach if a student cannot attend his / her group lesson?

Your Club Coach would appreciate a text message if you cannot attend your weekly lesson.

Are tennis racquets available for my child to use if s/he doesn’t have one or has left it at home?

Yes we have racquets in all sizes available.

Do my children receive make up lessons?

Parents can arrange for their child to have two lessons in one week if their child misses a lesson.

Alternately, students can have their make-up lesson in one of the two weeks dedicated to make-up lessons at the end of term two and four.

Are students able to use the courts outside of coaching?

Students must be members of the club to play on the courts.

Do you offer Junior Competition?

Yes, junior competition takes place on Saturday & Sunday Mornings at Highett Tennis Club.

When is my child ready for Junior Competition?

To play junior competition, participants need to be able serve from the baseline,understand the scoring system and make their own line calls during the match. They must be able to play using a normal tennis ball (not a low compression ball that may be used at coaching). They must be emotionally ready to handle wins and losses.

Do you coach on public holidays?

There is no Boys & Girls Junior Coaching on Public Holidays.

Some private lessons may go ahead.

Where should I go to buy my racquets?

We recommend Sportsmart on Cochranes Road in Moorabbin.

What racquets do you recommend?

We recommend Babolat, Head, Prince or Wilson racquets.

Please consult your Club Coach for racquet weight and grip size advice.

Is there a cancellation fee if I cancel my private lesson?

Club coaches must be given 24 hours notice if players need to cancel their private lesson.

A $10 late cancellation fee exists for players that do not attend their scheduled lesson and did not contact their Coach .
